Bharatpur Birds Park

Bharatpur
was the only Jat kingdom of any consequence in India. In 1733 AD, Raja Badan
Singh 's adopted son, Maharaja Suraj Mal displayed immense courage in capturing
the fort of Bharatpur killing the rival chief Khemkaran and thus laid the
foundation of Bharatpur City. Despite being a very religious man he was
secular.
During the Jat transition span of three hundred years they won and lost
many bettles, switched allegiance from Mughals to the Marathas to the British
and managed to build a fairly invincible fort as well as palaces and hunting
lodges that reflected various influences – Rajuput, Mughal and art-nouveau,
including the Pleasure Palace complex at Deeg. Bharatpur, is today known
the world – over for its Keoladeo Ghana National Park.
The Bharatpur has its history in the epic age dating 5th century BC. It
is known as eastern gateway to Rajasthan.
