Chitrakoot

Chitrakoot, besides being most beautiful hilly area of Vindhyas has the spiritual legacy of ancient times attached to it. The peace and tranquility pervades Chitrakoot as even the rivers and streams flow in quiet.

The gods bless Chitrakoot where the faith of pilgrims is fortified. The legend has it that when Rama and Sita were exiled from Ayodhya for 14 years, they spent 11 years in the forests of Chitrakoot. The great sage Atri and Sati Anusuya meditated here. Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh also took their incarnations here.
