Jaisalmer Travel

Jaisalmer is by far the oldest of the ancient capitals of Rajasthan and dates back to 1156 A.D. Jaisalmer Fort, built of golden Jurassic stone, is still vividly medieval in character, and all the more because it continuous to be inhabited. Wandering through the fort and the old town is a fascinating experience. The area around Jaisalmer is also known for the haunting music of the Manganiyars. Most fascinating Havelis situated in the city itself and to name a few are Salim Singh ki Haveli, built in 17th century, the Nathumal ki Haveli, built in 1885, and Patwon ki Haveli, built in 1805, a group of five built for five brothers, possibly the finest one having beautiful murals and carved pillars. Other nearby excursion consists of Bara Bagh - the oasis, Amar Sagar, Mool Sagar, and Sam situated 40 km to have the experience of sand dunes and camal safaris.
