Jalandhar

Jalandhar is an ancient city meaning area inside the water, i.e. tract between
the two rivers Satluj and Beas. It has quite a few legendary tales to the
credit. Jalandhar has progressed into industrialized modernity, and today
there are diverse industries like sports, steel and iron re-rolling mills,
automobile parts, handloom, electric goods and woolens. It is more famous
for world-class sports goods and sportsmen producing.
It is in the heart of Punjab state, and on the route to many places of Sikh
pilgrimage. There are within the city many historical monuments like that
of Imam Nasir, fort Phillaur, Shiv Mandir built by Nawab of Sultanpur Lodhi,
Catholic Cathedral, etc. Other places of interest in the vicinity include
Nur Mahal, tombs at Nakodar, and several temples.
