Kovalam

Kovalam – meaning groove of coconut trees is rightly called “Paradise of
the South”. The most enchanting strip of golden sands, laced with the rich
greenery of coconut palms, Kovalam is just 16 km away from Trivandrum, Kerala's
capital city. Formerly just a fishing village, today Kovalam with its crescent-shaped
beaches is a dreamy place for tourists all over the world. Kovalam is an
evergreen and pleasant climatic beach resort.
With high rock promontory, anchored and dancing fishing vessels on a calm
bay of blue waters, Lighthouse Beach, Hawah Beach and Samudra Beach create
an aura of paradise on moonlit nights. The area has a number of temples,
churches and mosques, besides enlivening classical dance form Kathakali.
