Mysore

Mysore
is known as the ‘Garden City’ and the ‘City of Palaces’. It is the second
biggest city in the State of Karnataka, and is the erstwhile capital of
the Mysore Maharajas. The famous Chamundi Hill is mythologically associated
with the name of the city.
Mysore is synonymous with Sandalwood, finest of silk and elaborate inlay-work
using ivory. It is also home to the 70 % produce of incense sticks in India.
Mysore has produced many well-regarded musicians and artists. Within the
town are several places of interest. The grand palace with its four arched
entrances has most expensive royal chair with liberally covered golden domes
made of gold and studded with diamond and precious stones. The palace rivals
the best in the world. The 18th century church of Saint Philomina's church
is a fine cathedral. Mysore had several lakes, all of which are dried.
There are several places of interest nearby like Brindavan Gardens, Srirangapattana,
Rangana Tittu bird sanctuary, Chamundi Hills, Nanjanagudu, Bandipur forest
reserve, Shivanasamudra falls, and Talakaadu.
Near Chamundi Hills is the Lalitha Mahal Palace that is now a 5-star hotel
where the connoisseur visitors can stay to enjoy the royal luxury.
