Ranthambore

Ranthambore, stand encompassed by conical steeps of Aravalli and gentler
slopes of Vindhya mountain ranges. A 10th century architecture in brooding
fort of Ranthambore with ramparts extending seven km long blends amicably
with the background. It is just 14 kms from Sawai Madhopur in eastern Rajasthan.
Ranthambore used to be shooting game preserve of the Jaipur royals.
Ranthambore National Park / Ranthambore Tiger Reserve is
India’s success story in conservation under Project Tiger. The secure habitat
and lush, emerald green forest, proved perfect recipe in increasing the
population of tigers over the years, besides healthy growth of other species
the ubiquitous langur (monkey), leopard, caracal, hyena, jackal, jungle
cat, marsh crocodiles, wild boar, dears and deer’s.
An increase in variety of birds, owlets and chirpings on luxuriant foliage
and tree tops also became quite noticeable. With three big lakes – Padam
Talab, Malik Talab and Raj Bagh the atmosphere is revellous.
The park has knowledgeabe staff and security. But it is of utmost concern
for the lovers of tiger the world over that poaching still continues, particularly
demand of bones used for traditional medicines in China. There are no accurate
figures as to how many of the striped beauties have been lost to insane
greed of just few. The tiger seem to be waging a lonely battle for survival.
Save Tiger!
The park gates open for public half hour before sunrise and close
half hour after sunset.
