Skiing at Auli Uttaranchal

Auli
is located in the Garhwal hills in northern Indian state of Uttaranchal.
It is a relatively a new entrant in the tourist map of India. Auli is one
of the very few places in India where skiing is a major pastime. Located
in the cradle of snow-capped Himalayas on all sides and lashed with the
bitter cold winds, Auli a skier's paradise. During winters there is a thick
carpet of snow, about 3m deep. The intensity of strong winds is weakened
with the presence of oak and coniferous trees along the slopes.
Facing Nanda Devi, one of the highest peaks, Auli is considered the best
skiing slope in Asia. The stretch of 3-kms with a drop in elevation of 500m
is considered to be a very good skiing ground by international standard.
In the accompaniment are Hathigauri, Neelkanth, and Kamet and Eravath mountains.
The National Winter Games are held here in the months of February and March.
During monsoons thousands of different variety of flowers bloom here.
The entire gear and equipments required for skiing activities, including
the most modern alpine skis, Nordic skis, gloves and goggles also available
on hire. The interested skiers may bring the equipment of their choice with
them. A chair lift / trolley connection is available between the lower and
upper slopes of ski point. Also there are two snow-beaters for beating the
snow for smooth skiing.
A peep on the beautiful sideways of Auli, the 6 km stretch was the old time
grazing land of the villagers.

Day 01 : Arrive Delhi
Arrive Delhi. Meeting and assistance on arrival. Transfer to hotel for the
overnight stay in Delhi.
Day 02 : Delhi
Morning tour of Delhi visiting Raj Ghat and Shanti Vana - the cremation
sites of Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru, Jama Masjid and drive past
Red Fort and Chandni Chowk. Afternoon visit Qutub Minar built by Qutub-ud-Din
Aibek in 1199, Humayun's Tomb, India Gate (War Memorial Arch ), Lakshminarayan
Temple - a modern Hindu Temple. Also drive past President's House, Parliament
House, Government Secretariat Buildings and Connaught Place shopping centre.
Overnight stay in Delhi hotel..
Day 03 : Delhi - Dehradun (BY TRAIN)
Morning in time transfer to New Delhi railway station to board train. On
arrival at Dehradun you will be guided to transportation for onward journey.
DEHRADUN / DEOPRAYAG (111 KMS / 3 HRS) - After lunch journey onto Devprayag
& upon arrival check into Cottages. Evening free to unwind & relax.
Day 04 : Deoprayag / Joshimath (200 KMS / 5 HRS)
Morning continue the journey to Joshimath.
Joshimath - Auli (3.9 KMS BY ROPEWAY)
Upon arrival at Joshimath the exciting Cable car whisks you to AULI - this
is the longest ropeway in India which provides a breathtaking view of Himalayas.
Upon arrival check into cottages.
Day 05 : Auli
Day free to enjoy skiing. Auli is the latest & best equipped ski resort
in India with modern ski-lift (500 Mts.), chair lift (800 Mts.) and support
equipment.
Day 06 : Auli
Day free to relax or opt for more skiing & view of Himalayas are breathtaking.
Overnight at resort.
Day 07 : Auli
Day free for indipendent activities and overnight at resort.
Day 08 : Auli - Deoprayag (215 KMS / 5.5 HRS)
Morning final ski lessons and afternoon drive to Deoprayag and upon arrival
check into cottages for overnight stay.
Day 09 : Deoprayag - Dehradun (111 KMS / 3 HRS)
Morning leave Deoprayag in time to board train for New Delhi from DEHRADUN
and upon arrival transfer to the hotel for the overnight stay.
Day 10 : Departure
Morning in time transfer to the airport to board flight for the onward destination.
